Pigments for modeling are used to age and simulate wear in vehicles, armor, fences and structures of models and to create effects of accumulations of dust, mud and smoke produced by time and natural aging. To fix the pigments to the surface, a matt finish acrylic resin is used, such as our Medium Matte (70.540) or Pigment Binder (26.233) which has a slower drying, makes it easier to simulate rain and snow, and provides more time to manipulate the pigment in and around the details of the model. Special effects can also be made by mixing the pigments with the products in the Diorama Effects range, such as Transparent Water (26,201) for the effects of grease, oil and wet mud, or Sandstone Paste (26,215) to create a coarse and rough surface of dry mud or deeply rusted and chipped metal. The pigments of Earth and Iron Oxide, to avoid accidental spills, are presented with a safety cap.
